Meet Mary Louise

Mary, a registered dietitian for over 30 years, discovered her passion for nutrition as a child growing up on Long Island. She has worked in hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient care, and corporate compliance, helping people improve their health through personalized nutrition. Outside of work, she enjoys an active lifestyle, family gatherings, and bringing people together through food and community

My Story

Mary has been a registered dietitian for over 30 years- but her passion for nutrition began long before her career. Growing up on Long Island, she knew by age 12 that she wanted to be a dietitian and helped her family with food shopping decisions and meal preparations. She  later earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta and was part of the very first group of AP4 students at Long Island University.

Her career began at South Oaks Hospital and Broadlawn Nursing Home, where she worked with patients of all ages dealing with mental health and addictive disorders-helping them restore function, rebuild health, and reclaim quality of life. She then joined Island Medical Center, working with psychiatric patients, individuals with addictions,  those in ICU, CCU, and medical/surgical units. At the same time she worked privately for one of the cardiologists at the hospital where she did outpatient individual and group counseling. Along the way she also worked part time at Petit Fleur Nursing Home. Eventually she became the chief clinical dietitian for IMC and Hempstead Park Nursing Home, where she led quality assurance and improvement, prepared for Joint Commission, the Department of Health surveys, and created menus, meeting medical needs while honoring cultural preferences. This role eventually led to becoming a Compliance Officer for the largest, privately owned orthotic and prosthetic company in the New York Metropolitan area, where she still currently ensures  patients receive the best possible care. Most recently, she worked remotely  with GLP-1 patients to help them lose weight and improve their health through personalized nutrition counseling.

Counseling Style

Mary listens first. Understanding your goals, challenges, and lifestyle is the foundation for creating an eating plan that works for you-not just for now but for life. Her goal is to empower you with tools, knowledge, and confidence so you can sustain your health, enjoy your food, and feel your best.

Hobbies/Interests

Mary raised four amazing children and is a proud grandmother. She always loved being active-playing sports in younger years, and now enjoys pickleball, hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, jet skiing and running. She is currently training to run a half marathon with 3 of her children and other family members. She loves concerts,  traveling, camping, the beach and spending time with friends and her large extended family, where there is always a celebration and plenty of home cooked food. She grew up in a family that valued gathering around the table, and her father’s large garden (which they still keep today), taught her the value of fresh, seasonal ingredients. She has been active in her church community for over 30 years, she has been helping to organize and cater events and gatherings- bringing people together through food, fellowship and shared purpose.
